Dating and Women
I've recently started to become very close to a certain young lady. For the first time in my life I've really started to analyze the process that occurs when a man and a woman become close to each other and start the process of dating and courtship.I started to think to myself, "Why can't we just skip over all of this uncertainty of knowing whether or not we are going to end up together and just decide that we are together?"
Then, I got to thinking seriously... What would we have to look forward to if we just ended up together without going through the dating stage? What excitement and suprise would there be? The suspense and uncertainty of things is what makes up half of the fun in dating, even though it may not seem to be the ideal situation for us at the time. I'm definitely becomming a fan of the system of dating and courtship.
What will happen between me and this woman? I don't know! But... I vote that it stays that way!

I'm glad someone enjoys the suspense. I think it depends on if the relationship is going well. If you're wondering because it's exciting, that's good. But if you have to wonder for other reasons, that really stinks. I am not a fan of dating practices. I suppose it's necessary but it's a big pain. More people have been hurt because the dating system is inefficient than I like to see. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating a giant chnage in mating, because this system is better than a lot of other things could be. Better the evil you know, right? And Ken, you should continue to be thrilled by the dating process. That makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm glad you're not burned out, tired of the system, and hating love like the rest of us! Just kidding. Well, I can tell you by experience that you have to play "the game." I tried not playing it, and, well lets just say that was a miserable failure. It went well for a while, but I guess it was just too unstable (like one of those man-made isotopes that only last a matter of minutes before decaying into something else... or something). So take it from me: even if you may hate those dumb little moronic unspoken rules, you have to follow them. :)
