Hybrid Hype
"In the end, it seems the only real winner after a hybrid purchase is the environment."An in depth analysis of the cost savings (or loss) from purchasing a hybrid vehicle can be found here: Is Hybrid Worth It?
So far it just isn't worth it at all to purchase a hybrid vehicle. The cost savings associated with fuel just does not come out to be what one would expect. The cost of monthly payments on the vehicle outweighs any fuel cost savings. Hybrid just is not worth it at all yet.

Everyone knows that you only get a hybrid for the coolness factor anyway. It's like installing solar panels on your roof and puting up some windmills so you can be off the grid. It cost way more to do it then you ever save in electric bills, but you only do it because it is cool (and maybe some concerns about the environment as well, which are definitely not to be disvalued) so it doesn't matter.
