Do you play The Sims 2?
Since I know a few people that play the Sims 2 regularly, I've kind of gotten back into it. Although, I do have to say, it is the dumbest game in the world! It is a big waste of time to watch dumb people live their lives when you should be living your own life! :) I, however, find myself being addicted to it at times. What is it about helping someone else live their life that gets so addicting?Do any of you out there have comments on this game? Does anyone else play it?

The only thing that I can't understand is why do they blur out the people when they are naked. I think that seeing the Sims naked isn't any worse than seeing a naked Barbie Doll. I guess if they are going to blur out the sims, Barbies cloths should be permanently affixed.
ReplyDeleteI can guess who unknown is... But if they want to be unknown they can stay that way.
ReplyDeleteThere is a sense of success to it, to playing the role of a person and having them succeed in their life, or letting them become a reck and go mentally off the wall. You can live out parts of you in the game that you can't actually do in the real world.
Who am I?
ReplyDeleteYa. I think Tyrell's explanation is pretty much the reason for why people get into the game. You can do things you couldn't do in real life, like buy fancy stuff, become a doctor in a couple of weeks, make your kids stand in a corner with no food, and stuff like that. I even know a few people who play the game to try to match the characters as close to themselves as possible, and then play things out the way they really want their lives to be. In a video game, there's no inhibition to scare you away from doing whatever you want.
ReplyDeleteTo unknown. You know, when I was a kid and my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would drop kick my sister's Barbies down the stairs...I seem to remember that some of her dolls actually did have underwear molded onto them. But the main reasoning is that the game was designed to get a rating for Everyone. Naked people doesn't really fit under that rating, and can cause a big social backlash (as was seen when GTA:San Andreas came out...at it already had a Mature rating). However, apparently there are enough people who wanted to see the Sims get in the shower without the blur. If you really want it, there are cracks available that will remove the blur.
Why anyone would want to see Sims naked is just sick. It's essentially animated porn. But anyway, I've played the orignal Sims, although not Sims 2, and I can see the allure. It really is the challenge of accomplishing things you can't in real life. I don't play it much anymore though. You can waste away your life in front of the stupid thing.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that people would want to see the Sims naked. That just seems wrong. Plus, Barbie isn't all that detailed under her cloths. I am sure that they could make the Sims a lot more detailed. Cami, your right. Animated porn it is.
ReplyDeleteI have never really gotten into the game. I have tried a few times. But it gets really old really fast. I would rather be out trying to make my own life better, rather than try to get some dumb computer character the better life.
