My mother impressed me today...
As I came home from work today I handed my laptop to my mom to show her my assignment in biology, which is posted on the web. To my surprise, she actually scrolled down on the page using the side of the touchpad! Wow! She usually takes her pointer over to the scroll bar to scroll down. Good job, mother! I'm very proud!

This has nothing to do with this post, but I just wanted to comment that I don't know if using the phrase "Image courtesy of..." is quite appropriate in the context in which you are using it. I mean, that implies that you sort of have permission to use said person's image, like you asked them and they gave you permission. "Courtesy of" is usually used when someone made a donation or something. (The actual definition being "Willingness or generosity in providing something needed," or "Given or done as a polite gesture.") Whereas I am willing to bet that most of these images you just jacked off of the website (I'm not faulting you... we all do it), and they have no idea you are using them. Not that it matters for an insignificant little blog, but you might want to consider writing something else like "image credit: url", "image from: url" or simply "image: url"
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I will stop using the phrase "image courtesy of..."
ReplyDeleteI prefer the term "Downloaded without your knowledge or permission, but recieved but there's nothing you can do to stop me".
ReplyDeleteIn my Programming Languages class it was always "Borrowed without telling anybody (so please try to keep it that way)"
