Actually, spell check is just jealous because her BYU Cougars lost to the Utah Utes in the Mountain West Conference tournament and, thus, lost their chance to get a birth into the NCAA tournament.

Actually, I'm going to have to stick to my guns on this one. It is indeed berth, not birth, regardless of your definitions. Google "NCAA berth" and you'll get nearly 3 million hits, including the aol sports website and the Yale Daily News; google "NCAA birth" and you'll only get 2 million. These are the idiots who can't spell. By the way, usu.edu also uses berth, not birth. It's a space, a place, a "bunk" if you will in the tournament- a job int he afterseason. I call on sports fans everywhere to back me up on this. And hey, sorry about your team losing Ken. ;-)

I'm not a big sports fan but I'm not an idiot either, so I am going to have to side with Cami. It's not a "birth into the NCAA tournament," it's a "berth in the NCAA tournament" meaning a position in said tournament. Anyone with a basic knowledge of grammar should recognize this. Well, at least apparently the girls do. :) What can I say...
