New Phone!
I bought an LG VX8600 from my roommate. I decided when this phone came out that I was going to buy it. I just didn't want to buy it at full retail price. I've used it now for almost two weeks and I love it!!!
The phone is so thin. I can't even tell that it is in my pocket! It supports all of the Bluetooth profiles that I want, except for OBEX. I does Dial-Up Networking, Serial Port, Object Push, Stereo Audio, and Headset profiles.
The music capabilities of this phone are awesome! I use it as my main music player when I'm on the go. I think that my next car stereo will even have A2DP support so that I can just use my phone to listen to music in my car. We'll see about that, though.
I've hacked this phone up to the level that I had on my last phone. I have Mobile Web going through my own proxy server. I've changed the MMS server setting as well, so that I can send free picture messages. What else... I have free MP3 ringtones and VZ Navigator as well! I'm quite pleased with my new phone and I would highly recommend the VX 8600!

ReplyDeleteI think he accidentally tried that at work but it didn't float. So now I've been asking him "Will it blend?"

ReplyDeleteI'm a friend of your buddy James. I just got a new phone and of course being with verizon anything fun is locked down. James told me that you know how to hack into these things would you be willing to help me with my phone or give me some pointers to get me started?

I guess we should start with the model of phone that you have. If you got an LG or Samsung phone I can help you better. I don’t know much about hacking Motorola phones and other models. However, I can point you in the right direction. The place where I got most of my information is Howardforums.com. The Verizon forum at http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=51 will be a great help you to.
Next, what features are you looking to unlock? You won’t be able to unlock phone-to-phone Bluetooth file transfer. That just isn’t going to happen. On my phone I have enabled free mobile web so I can surf the internet on my phone without paying. I also have enabled my phone to be tethered to a laptop to be able to access the internet via the phone for free. At one point I also enabled free outgoing PIX/FLIX messaging, but that got annoying because receiving messages still costs .25 each. I also can put ringtones on my phone for free. Other than that, I can’t recall anything else that I have done.

ReplyDeleteSorry i can't answer why james hasn't talked to you in such a long time. It's ATK, i car pool with him, and when you got to get up at 5am to go to work that means u gotta go to bed by 9pm to get any sort of a decent night's sleep. and going to bed at 9 just kills any sort of social life opportunities. but he did mention that he imagines that the next lan party should be coming up and he'll probably will make it to that.
So my phone. this week i got a razor v3m from verizon. from surfing around i to found the howardforums.
really the biggest functions i want is to upload my mp3 and have them as my ringtones. anything else that i can do would just be candy. i already have unlimited pix and text message so that doesn't interest me too much. but i take as much as i can get out of my phone.
james said we live just across the street from each other. if u're available i'd prefer having an expert with me helping me making these mods. if u're available, u got my email, and we can arrange something.
